Yamaha FZ25 vs TVS RTR200 4V: price, specs, features and design

Yamaha have been pretty confident with their take on performance motorcycles. It is evident in their past models like the YZF R3 or bigger ones like the R1, which has adorned the walls of many teenagers' bedrooms. With the FZ25 too, the brand has delivered to its promises. However, a smaller motorcycle that has been in the market for some time now, may be worthy of competing against Yamaha's latest offering. The RTR200 comes from the house of TVS, which made a prominent mark during the Dakar Rally. It was too aimed to young buyers who expected a bit from their bikes than just a daily commute.

    Design:-

Yamaha have a paid a strict attention to the FZ25's appearance, and no doubt it looks like a capable street-fighter. The detailing on the tank and around the pillion seat give the motorcycle an aggressive appeal. A wide wheel at the works well on corners. The RTR200, on the other hand, is not as butch as the FZ25, but the engine cowl, race seats and petal discs on both ends give it a race appeal.

    Engine:-

The FZ25 comes with an air cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve 249cc engine, that makes 20.6 hp at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. It is quite a quick motorcycle off the line and will do a top speed of about 140 kmph.

Now, if these figures are compared to those of the RTR200, it shows why the 197.75 cc motorcycle is an impressive one. The RTR200 is powered by 4-valve, oil-cooled single cylinder engine which makes 19.7 hp at 8500 rpm (carburettor variant) and 20.7 hp at 8500 rpm (EFI variant). Maximum torque output is 18.1 Nm at 7000 rpm. It can attain a top speed of 127 kmph (carb) and 129 kmph (EFI).
