IPhone 14 features and design in details

Apple iPhone 14 Design and Features

The iPhone 14 is expected to feature a titanium backside that is shielded by a glass surface.  It is essentially based on a combination of the build design of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 4, which makes it more robust.

According to the 3D renders provided by well-known tipster John Prosser, the new phones will also do away with the infamous camera bump.  Instead, it will have a thick flush glass back that laces over the rounded edges.  A report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also suggests that Apple will replace the display notch with a punch-hole camera.  The OLED display panels will be supplied by LG and will come with support for 120Hz promotional refresh rate.

For data transfer and charging, we can expect to see the company switching to a USB Type-C connector.  This partly has to do with a new EU rule that obliges all mobile producers to adopt a single universal charging solution, resulting in reduced e-waste.  However, John Prosser notes that Apple may still be holding onto its Lightning ports.

Apple iPhone 14 Specifications and Hardware

Under the hood, a new, more powerful A16 Bionic processor is expected, which will adopt a 4nm chip process.  The display will have the same 120Hz promotion across devices, although analyst Ross Young noted that the base variant will feature a standard 60Hz LTPS (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) display.

The base and Pro variants will feature a 6.06-inch display with a 2532 x 1170 resolution, while the Max and Pro Max options will measure 6.68 inches and support 2778 x 1284 resolution.  It is also worth noting that only the Pro Max variant has an LTPO display which, as mentioned above, is being supplied by LG.  Whether this translates into a punch-hole camera setup exclusively for the Pro Max, only time will tell.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that Apple will switch to a 48MP camera next year, allowing the brand to take advantage of camera binning – a process that allows for better low-light photography while maintaining a higher pixel count  .  The base variant is expected to feature a dual-camera setup, while the rest three will go with a triple-camera setup.

Other rumors point to a 2TB storage configuration for the Pro and above models, and a 1TB setup for the regular iPhone 14.  Batteries will also see an upgrade across all models, and 5G connectivity will return.  Reports also indicate that it may offer Wi-Fi 6e connectivity.

LG and Samsung to supply hole-punch displays for iPhone 14 Pro

Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone 14 Pro model next year and now a new report suggests that LG as well as Samsung will be supplying hole-punch displays for the upcoming iPhones to the Cupertino-based tech giant.
According to a report in The Alec, South-Korean tech giant Samsung, which is Apple's leading LED panel supplier, has shared an order with LG Display for the first time for the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max and the 6.1-inch iPhone 14.  Will supply all hole-punched panels for the Pro.

The base model iPhone 14 is still expected to sport a notch style display with the Mini variant.

Apple is also reportedly planning to add a 48MP camera lens to the iPhone next year.

The 48MP camera will be limited to the iPhone 14 Pro model and will currently allow 4K to 8K video recording.

The next flagship series, the iPhone 14 line-up, will come with up to 2TB of storage.

Apple will adopt QLC flash storage for next year's iPhones and will expand the capacity to 2TB for the new storage technology.

Under the hood, the upcoming iPhone is expected to run on iOS 16 and pack a 3,815mAh battery with fast-charging support.
