Lord Krishna 8 wives, Story behind 16108 wives of Lord Krishna.

 According to the Puranas, Shri Krishna had married 8 women who became his wives.  These were Rukmini, Jambavati, Satyabhama, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Satya (Nagnajiti), Bhadra and Lakshmana.  He was blessed with 10 sons from each wife, thus he had 80 sons.  Today we will tell you about 8 queens and 80 sons of Shri Krishna.

1. Rukmini- 

            There was a brave king named Bhishma of Vidarbha kingdom.  His daughter's name was Rukmini.  She was actually a part of Lakshmiji.  She was extremely beautiful and possessed of all qualities.  On hearing Narada's description of the qualities of Shri Krishna, Rukmini wanted to marry Shri Krishna only.  Hearing the discussion of Rukmini's form and qualities, Lord Krishna also decided to marry Rukmini.  Rukmini had a brother named Rukmi.  He had arranged the marriage of Rukmini with Shishupala.  When Shri Krishna came to know about this, he forcefully abducted Rukmini and took her to Dwarka a day before the marriage.  After reaching Dwarka, Shri Krishna and Rukmini were married.  Rukmini's ten sons were born to Rukmini.

  2. Jambavati- 

                    There was a Yadav named Satrajit.  He worshiped Lord Surya a lot.  Pleased with which God gave him a gem.  Lord Krishna asked Satrajit to present that gem to King Ugrasen, but Satrajit did not listen to him and kept the gem with him.  One day Satrajit's brother Prasen went hunting in the forest with that gem.  There a lion killed Prasena and snatched the gem and hid in his cave.  After a few days, Riksharaj Jambavan killed the lion and kept the gem with him.  Satrajit blamed Krishna for stealing the gem and killing his brother.  To get rid of this defect, Shri Krishna went to the forest to search for that gem.  With the light of the gem, Shri Krishna reached the cave where Jambavant and his daughter Jambavati lived.  There was a fierce battle between Shri Krishna and Jambavan.  After being defeated in the war, Jambavan came to know that Shri Krishna himself was an avatar of Vishnu.  On knowing the true form of Shri Krishna, Jambavan apologized to him and to atone for his crime, married his daughter Jambavati with Shri Krishna.  The sons of Jambavanti were Samba, Sumitra, Purujit, Shatajit, Sahasrajit, Vijay, Chitraketu, Vasuman, Dravida and Kratu.

3. Satyabhama -  

                 Shri Krishna reached Dwarka with the gem.  On reaching there, Shri Krishna gave that gem to Satrajit and proved the blame on himself wrong.  Satrajit felt himself humiliated when Shri Krishna was proved innocent.  He knew Krishna's brilliance, so he became very frightened.  Due to his foolishness, there should be no enmity of Shri Krishna with him, out of fear, Satrajit married his daughter Satyabhama with Shri Krishna.  The names of the sons of Satyabhama were Bhanu, Subhanu, Swarabhanu, Prabhanu, Bhanuman, Chandrabhanu, Brihadbhanu, Atibhanu, Sribhanu and Pratibhanu.   

4. Satya (Nangajiti)-  

                       was a daughter of King Nagjit of the kingdom of Kaushal.  Whose name was Nakedajiti.  She was very beautiful and had all the qualities.  In order to get a suitable groom for his daughter, Nagnajit made a condition.  The condition was that the Kshatriya hero who would win over seven oxen would be married to Nagnajit.  One day, seeing Lord Krishna, Nakedajiti was fascinated by him and took a vow to marry Lord Krishna in her mind.  Lord Krishna knew this.  To fulfill the wishes of his devotee, Lord Krishna controlled the seven bulls and conquered them.  Seeing this might of the Lord, Nakedajit married his daughter to Lord Krishna.  The names of Satya's sons were Veera, Ashwasen, Chandra, Chitragu, Vegawan, Vrisha, Aam, Shanku, Vasu and Kunta.

5. Kalindi- 

         Once Lord Krishna was walking in the forest with his beloved Arjuna.  To remove the cost of the journey, both of them went and sat on the banks of the Yamuna river.  There, Shri Krishna and Arjuna saw a young woman doing penance.  Seeing that girl, Arjun asked her introduction.  On being asked by Arjuna, the girl gave her name as Suryaputri Kalindi.  While residing in the Yamuna river, she was doing penance to get Lord Vishnu as her husband.  Knowing this, Lord Krishna told Kalindi that he was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and took him with him to Dwarka.  On reaching Dwarka, Lord Krishna and Kalindi were married.  The names of the sons of Kalindi were – Shruta, Kavi, Vrisha, Veer, Subahu, Bhadra, Shanti, Darsha, Poornamas and Somak. 

 6. Lakshmana- 

                  Lakshmana had heard many things about the incarnations of Lord Vishnu from the devarshi Narada.  His mind was always engaged in the remembrance and devotion of God.  Lakshmana wanted to get Lord Vishnu as her husband.  His father knew this.  In order to fulfill his daughter's wish, her father organized such a swayamvara, in which no one other than Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, could distinguish the goal.  Lakshmana's father decided to marry his daughter to the same hero who, seeing the reflection of the fish in the water, could target the fish.  Shishupala, Karna, Duryodhana, Arjuna, none could distinguish this goal.  Then Lord Krishna, seeing only the shadow, aimed at the fish, became victorious in the swayamvara and married Lakshmana.  The names of Lakshmana's sons were Praghosha, Gatravan, Singh, Bal, Prabal, Udhvaga, Mahashakti, Saha, Oja and Aparajit.

7. Mitravinda- 

        Swayamvar was organized for the marriage of Princess Mitravinda of Avantika (Ujjain).  In that swayamvara, Mitravinda would be married to whomever Mitravinda would choose as her husband.  Lord Krishna also reached that swayamvara.  Mitravinda wanted to marry Lord Krishna only, but her brother Vind was Duryodhana's friend.  So he restrained his sister from choosing Lord Krishna by force.  When Lord Krishna came to know about Mitravinda's mind.  Then God abducted Mitravinda in front of all the opponents and married her.  The names of the sons of Mitravinda are Vrika, Harsha, Anil, Gridha, Vardhana, Annad, Mahansha, Pavan, Vahin and Kshudhi. 

 8. Bhadra- 

                           A Bhua Kaikeya named Shrutakirti of Lord Krishna lived in the country.  He had a daughter named Bhadra.  Bhadra and his brothers knew the qualities of Lord Krishna.  Therefore Bhadra's brothers decided to marry her with Lord Krishna.  To fulfill the wishes of his brother and brothers, Lord Krishna married Bhadra with full rituals.  The sons of Bhadra are Sangramjit, Brihatsen, Shoor, Praharan, Arijit, Jai, Subhadra, Vam, Ayu and Satyaka.

Story behind 16100 wives of Lord Krishna.

 Apart from these, 16100 more wives of Shri Krishna are told.  These 16100 girls were freed by Shri Krishna after killing the demon Narakasura and gave shelter to him.  All these girls had accepted Shri Krishna as their husband.  The full story of Narakasura and Shri Krishna never again.
