In Shiva Purana, the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month has been described as the date of incarnation of Mangalmurti Ganesha, while according to the opinion of Ganesh Purana, this Ganesha incarnation took place on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi.
Gana + husband = Ganapati. According to Sanskrit dictionary 'Gana' means holy. 'Pati' means lord, 'Ganapati' means lord of the holy.
Ganesha chaturthi - First Story !!!!!!!
It is described in the fourth (Kumar) section of Rudrasamhita under Shiva Purana that Mother Parvati, before taking a bath, created a child out of her filth and made him her gatekeeper. When Shivaji wanted to enter, the boy stopped him. On this the Shivaganas fought fiercely with the child, but no one could defeat him in the battle. Eventually Lord Shankar got angry and cut off the head of that child with his trident. This made Bhagwati Shiva angry and he decided to do the catastrophe. The frightened gods pacified Jagadamba by praising Jagadamba on the advice of Devarshinarad.
On the instructions of Shiva, Vishnu ji brought the head of the first found creature (elephant) in the north direction. Mrityunjay Rudra revived the boy by placing that head of the yard on the torso of the boy. Mother Parvati, with Harshatirek, took that Gajmukh child to her heart and blessed her to be the foremost among the gods. Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh declared that child as Sarvadhyaksha and granted him the boon of being the foremost worshiper. Lord Shankar said to the child - Girijanandan! Your name will be paramount in destroying obstacles. By becoming the worshiper of all, become the head of all my clans. Ganeshwar! You were born when the moon rose on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. All the obstacles of the one who observes fast on this date will be destroyed and he will get all the siddhis. After worshiping Ganesha at the time of moonrise on the Chaturthi night of Krishna Paksha, offer sweets to the Brahmin by offering Arghya to the fasting moon. After that, eat sweet food yourself. The wishes of the person who observes Ganesh Chaturthi fast throughout the year are definitely fulfilled.
The Ganesha chaturthi - Second story!!!!!!
Once Mahadevji along with Parvati went to the banks of Narmada. There Parvati ji expressed her desire to play chaupad with Mahadevji at a beautiful place. Then Shiva said- Who will be the witness of our defeat and victory? Parvati immediately made an effigy by collecting straws from the grass there and after consecrating life in it said to him- son! We want to play quadruped, but there is no one to witness defeat or victory here. Therefore, at the end of the game, you are witness to our defeat and victory and tell who among us won, who lost? The game started. Parvati ji won all three times by divine grace. When in the end the decision of victory and defeat was made by the boy, he declared Mahadevji victorious. As a result, Parvati ji got angry and cursed him to be lame on one leg and suffer sorrow by lying in the mud there.
The boy politely said - Mother! It happened because of my ignorance. I didn't do it out of any crookedness or malice. Forgive me and tell me the remedy to get rid of the curse. Then Mamta's mother felt pity on him and she said - here the snake girls will come to worship Ganesha. By his teachings you will attain me by fasting Ganesha. Saying this she went to Mount Kailash. After a year, the snake-girls came there in Shravan to worship Ganesha. Snake-girls fasting Ganesha and told the method of fasting to that child too. Thereafter the child observed Lord Ganesha's fast for 12 days. Then Ganeshji appeared to him and said – I am happy with your fast. Ask for the desired boon. The boy said - God! Give so much strength to my feet that I can reach my parents on Mount Kailash and they will be pleased with me. Ganeshji disappeared by saying 'Tathastu'. The child reached the feet of Lord Shiva. Shivaji asked him about the means of reaching there. Then the child narrated the whole story to Shiva. On the other hand, Parvati became displeased with Shiva from that very day. After this Lord Shankar also fasted for 21 days like a child, due to which Parvati's desire to meet Mahadevji was awakened in her mind. She soon reached Mount Kailash. Upon reaching there Parvati asked Shivaji - Lord! What such remedy did you take, as a result of which I have run away from you. Shivji told him the history of Ganesh fast. Then Parvati, with the desire to meet her son Kartikeya, worshiped Ganesha with Durva, flowers and laddus for 21 days for 21 days. On the 21st day Kartikeya himself met Parvati. He also observed the fast after hearing the significance of this fast from the mouth of his mother.
Kartikeya told this fast to Vishwamitraji. Vishwamitra fasted and asked Ganesha for the boon of being free from birth to be a 'Brahm-rishi'. Ganeshji fulfilled his wish. Such is Shri Ganeshji, who fulfills everyone's wishes.
Ganesha chaturthi -The third story!!!!!!!
Once Mahadevji went to Bhogavati to take a bath. After his departure, Parvati made an effigy from the filth of her body and named it 'Ganesha'. Parvati said to him - O son! Take a mug and sit at the door. I am going inside and taking a bath. Don't let any man in you until I take a bath. When Lord Shiva came after taking bath in Bhogavati, Ganeshji stopped him at the door. Shiva considered this as his insult and got angry and went inside after separating his head from the body. Seeing him angry, Parvati understood that Mahadevji was angry due to the delay in food. So he immediately called Shiva after serving food in two plates. Seeing the second plate, Shiva was a little surprised and asked – for whom is this second plate? Parvati said - The son is for Ganesh, who is guarding the door outside. Hearing this, Shiva was even more surprised. Is your son guarding? Yes Nath! Have you not seen him? I had seen it, but on my restraint, I thought of him as a defiant child and cut off his head. Parvati ji was very sad hearing this. They started moaning. Then to please Parvati, Lord Shiva cut off the head of an elephant and attached it to the child's body. Parvati ji was very pleased to have son Ganesha in this way. After lovingly feeding her husband and son, she ate the food herself.
This incident happened on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi. That is why this date is celebrated as a holy festival. Starting from Bhadrapada-Krishna-Chaturthi, on fasting on the day of Chandrodayavyapini Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of every month, Vighneshwar Ganesha gets pleased and removes all obstacles and troubles. On every Shukla Paksha Chaturthi, the fast is instructed to take food after moon sighting, not before it. But on the Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha, moon-darshan (to see the moon) in the night is prohibited. Those who look at the moon on this night get false stigma. Such is the instruction of the scriptures. It is also felt. The people who saw the moon on this Ganesh Chaturthi experienced the above results, there is no doubt about it. Even if the moon is sighted knowingly or unknowingly, the following mantra must be recited 'Sih Prasenam Avadhith, Singho Jambavata Hatah. Sukumarak Ma Rodistava Hayesh Swamantakah
